Dorothy is a 1 year old, 11 lb Chihuahua/Corgi mix, and she might even have some Dachshund mixed in. This cute little dog has had quite the adventure. She and a companion dog were dumped on some ranch land in Oklahoma. The owner of that land lives in the DFW area, so she brought them back and asked us to help find homes for them. Dory (aka Dorothy) had an injured leg when she arrived, probably from being hit by a car or kicked. One of our wonderful vets tried to repair her leg with surgery, but the damage was too severe, so it didn't heal. Dory had to have a second surgery to amputate her back right leg. This brave little dog was up and walking around two days after surgery, and she feels great! She no longer has any pain to deal with, and she can now run like the wind! She is acting more like a puppy now that she feels so good. She loves chew bone toys, and she will need plenty of chew toys to keep her from chewing the wrong things. She gets along great with the other dogs in her foster home. She even plays with the cat, but the cat in her foster home is very chill and tolerant, and he will let her know when he's had enough. Dory should not go to a home with cats who won't enjoy her attempts to play with them. Dory is crate trained, but has good house manners, and can be left with run of the house. She LOVES meal time and snack time a little too much. Adopters need to watch her eating habits and weight gain, especially since excess weight will make it more difficult to run around on three legs. Dory loves tummy rubs and all types of petting. When Dory is super interested in something, her ears perk out and she looks like she is ready for take-off! What a cutie!!
