Wesley is a 2 year old, 8 lb Maltese mix. He was picked up as a stray by a local animal shelter. He was scared and so terribly matted that he had to be shaved to the skin. He is very shy at first, and needs time to adjust to a new home and feel secure. He has been in foster care for a few weeks, and his hair is growing back and is so soft! He has also become much more relaxed and trusting. Foster mom can now pick him up and give him lots of pets, and he loves to lie on the couch beside her during TV time. It is highly recommended that Wesley go to a home with another playful dog. The other young dog in his foster home and Wesley play all the time. They love to play tug with a toy, and chase each other around the yard. Wesley gets along with the other two senior dogs in his foster home, but he will sometimes annoy them with his playfulness. Wesley barks at and chases the resident cat so he cannot go to a home with cats. Wesley should be ok with kid over 6, as long as they are gentle with him. Wesley is mostly housebroken, but does still have an occasional accident. He is crate trained, and sleeps through the night in his crate if the crate is next to the foster's bed. Adopters need to be patient with Wesley as it may take a few weeks for him to totally settle in and trust his new people. Wesley is a precious boy, and will be worth a little extra effort.
